I resumed my art in late 1984 under Leo Garel in Stockbridge, MA. My work has always been based on observations from nature and primarily landscape. In the past twenty years my work has still been based on these observations but at some point in the process I wonder away, in a direction that is dictated by the painting itself, striving to get to a closer proximity to an artistic expression that is closer to the highest form of art: music.
The paintings in this exhibition are the night fishing series and spring garden 2016, 2017. I began with night fishing 1. Then on a trip to London I went to a large exhibition of late works by Turner at the Tate. There are 11 in this series plus some smaller studies.
The spring garden is something I have done since 2016 and hope to continue. In these I attempt to depict the essence of spring in the picture and my own process of painting them with playful embellishment and wonderment.
