Photographs isolate the human experience, creating the impression of a hierarchical truth. They often personify a moment, confining within its borders a perceived window to “reality”; proof of its virtual existence.  I offer my audience an alternative perspective to this visual narrative avoiding the common associations and expectations of the photographic image and process.  I record using various devices for digital and analog capture; each image dictated by scale, scope, subject and necessity for discretion.

My images are interpretations of space.  I use my camera and lens to mirror the way I see, rather than exploiting how the camera was designed to record information. The images are my contemplations while engaging with my surroundings. Light, shadow and the ambiance they create become my paint. Natural and man-made objects become my building blocks.

I enlist optical and post-production techniques to illustrate the visual possibilities of my experience.  My images drift between premeditated and spontaneous moments. Sometimes isolating a particular instance and at other times manipulating and redefining space; stitching and layering information.

The final print is the vehicle that communicates my experience and presents the viewer a hyper-reality.
