“The confluence of my studies in painting and architecture informs my work in clay. I am intrigued by handbuilding, as it demands an understanding of the precise engineering of forms. At the same time, I value the random imprecision created by the magical forces in the glazing and firing processes. My hand-built ceramics are made of stoneware and porcelain, enhanced with slips, oxides and glazes and fired in electric, soda and gas reduction kilns.”
